Multiple issues. No support!

Got my unit last week Wednesday.

Contacted support last Friday via email about multiple issues with the unit. Still no response.

  1. Side “wood” sticker bubbling up in 2 separate places.
  2. Loud grinding noises and knocking sounds when the ball is drawing in the center area
  3. Images drawn in random orientation and skewed.

  1. Sometimes patterns do not complete

Are there any support employees in this forum? I need my unit replaced please with a defect-free one, please.

I don’t understand why I am expected to pay full price for a product with so many issues and be a beta tester at my own expense.

Yeah, you won’t get much support from this team. The product seems to be a cash grab unfortunately.

I have contacted support directly last month and received a reply the next day. It is possible they’re so swamped that they’re not getting to everyone right now though. It’s a pretty small team and they seem to be selling a lot of these things.

You’ve probably already tried this but you can hold the reset button on the back and that will sometimes fix major issues. I’d imagine your grinding sound and lack of upright designs are related though unfortunately.

As for the bubbling everyone has it, it’s an unfortunate reality of the cheap sticker they used as of yet. They do claim to have a warranty program, i’d definitely try to shoot them an email directly for a replacement unit.

Hi there! I’m having the same exact problem that you. I had my Oasis Mini yesterday, and after two correct designs, the others weren’t well oriented nor being done correctly.

My pug design appears to have the same problem as you. Any updates here from Grounded support?

Yeah I’m really really disappointed in this thing. I’ve had about a month and a half I’ve tried twice to get support they emailed me I called them they left him a message they didn’t call me back email them again still nothing. I can’t even get the app to recognize this thing, my computer will not download anything to this I’m getting an error, it’s a joke and I’m really mad.

I have this exact issue… Such a shame.

I am pretty sure I fixed it. What seems to be the problem is that the plastic part holding the magnet is dragging over the white back plate. Since that has quite a rubbery finish it kinda struggles to keep track. I think this in the end causes the software to lose track of it’s exact position. I noticed because the magnet had actually some white residue from scraping the back plate.

This is what I did to fix it:

  • Unscrew the device as demonstrated in the support videos
  • Apply vaseline all over the back plate and on the magnet.
  • Screw it back together. (Not too tight.)

It was never able to draw anything else then the spiral, now it actually for the first time drew the image perfectly.

No guarantees of course.

Good luck! I’ll keep you posted if the fix holds.

Mine’s had all the issues, just got it today.

  • grinding and tapping sounds
  • leaves middle 2cm untouched
  • draws fine and then suddenly goes crazy
  • relentlessly goes around the very edge of the circle when it’s supposed to do a spiral

This is hilarious, but awesome that it worked.

I may try that when I have some time.

Did you also apply Vaseline on the gears?

How did you remove the sand?

No I didn’t lube the gears since they seemed to have plenty.

To take the sand out I just layed a big plate on top, flipped it over and tapped the device gently to drop all the sand out.

But must say, it works flawless since this “fix”

It seems that I have the same exact problem. I gotta wait for someone to test the vaseline fix before trying it. Either way I’m really disappointed by the product and would certainly not buy it knowing all the problems.

Look at my beautiful ant  :

Gotta say, experience has not been stellar so far.

Received my Oasis last week and pretty much share all the issues mentioned (noise, patterns shrinking/warping, ball sometimes not being able to break free from loops, skipping small area in the center, etc.).

If I’m lucky, it will correctly draw the first pattern after a power reset - but after that, it’s pretty much just an expensive paperweight until I do another power cycle again (or more if centering fails).

While I’m glad to see I’m not the only one with these issues, I feel this is something that should have been caught by QA.

I’ve opened a support case last weekend and have yet to get a reply. I also don’t want to open the device without getting a response first.

Given the long production time (which I don’t mind) plus the “premium” shipping costs to Europe (which I do mind), I can’t help but feel like this has been rushed.

I really want to like the device, so here’s to hoping that there will be a proper fix for these issues. But so far, the manufacturer has not been making this easy.

You’re taking pretty much everything right out of my mouth! How was the delivery by the way? For the very premium price I feel like I’ve somehow gotten the cheapest delivery option, because they didn’t even call/text that they’re delivering something which hasn’t happened in years.

Delivery itself was fine, I guess. While there was radio silence for a couple of weeks after they publicly announced the shipments for Europe and I didn’t get a tracking number, I at least got a mail from the courier the day before the device was delivered.

I get that they’re a new company, probably doing all these things for the first time. Mistakes happen and stuff needs to be ironed out.

I just wish they tested some things more thoroughly and would work on their communication.

I feel pretty lost with this:

Opening up the mini and applying the Vaseline fix under the tank seemed to resolve the issue of images being fuzzy or not drawn correctly for me. However, after every few patterns, the completed drawings sometimes appear in the wrong orientation—occasionally sideways, and sometimes upside down.

I mean … I really want to apply the fix but do not want to void the warranty. Is there some official statement that can be make about this please ?

Another problem I just noticed is that the sticker under the backplate gets bubbles when in the sun, which is yet another reason for the magnet to get stuck. I just tore it out. Lets see. So far the build quality of this thing is terrible…

The plastic sticker warps even when it’s not in the sun. When I tried to move the magnet manually, it was hard to do because the warped plastic was in the way. I can imagine how much stress this puts on the plastic gears, which would really mess up the draw path and cause problems.
